![]() His looked a lot better than mine, and he loved it. Super Hubby chose the Bangin' Chicken (crispy chicken tossed in sauce, grilled onions and green peppers, tomatoes, cheese, ranch dressing). Unlike Moe's, which has an extensive choice of free toppings that results in a huge, bulging, juicy burrito, Tijuana Flats is limited to the following standard toppings: jalapenos, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. If you're a hearty eater, you might consider getting it "mega" (double meat and cheese) for an upcharge, because there was not much cheese in my standard meal. I got it "wet" (I chose cheese as my wet topping) for an upcharge, and I'm glad because it kind of needed the sauce over it. ![]() I had the chicken and bean burrito (choice of whole wheat or flour tortilla, choice of refried or black beans). Like Moe's Southwest Grill, all entrees come with a side of tortilla chips and like Moe's, Tijuana Flats also says they serve all fresh, hormone free meat and produce that is never frozen. Unlike most places, the menu has complete calorie counts, if that's of interest to you. ![]() This is a fast-casual Tex-Mex restaurant, so it's good for a quick, reasonably priced meal. We wish they would open one where we live! It's a funky, fun place that serves fresh food, made to order. This location has a good sized outdoor patio, which we enjoy. They serve beer and wine, and the atmosphere is not your typical "fast food" decor.with wild murals all over the place. ![]() We always get the burritos (technically a "mini-uana" chicken and black bean).I mean how many "fast food" places have black beans, not refried? They will even make us unsalted chips if they are not too busy, and we really appreciate that. They also have gluten free and vegetarian options. Love that they have choices for whole grain tortillas, and the "power lite" option for cheese and sour cream. We feel it is the "healthiest" Mexican food we've found anywhere. Grab a seat, and your food will be brought out to you shortly. Each one is labeled as to how hot or mild they are. ![]() Then go to the Sauce Bar to pick out what kind of sauce you want (for your chips and/or food). Employees are friendly, and always willing to help you with your order. When you enter, grab a menu and then go to the counter when you're ready to order. This is our favorite place for Mexican-inspired food in Sarasota. ![]()
